and Conservation Department (AFCD) has significantly
eased pet import requirements from Mainland China,
reducing quarantine from 120 days to 30 days for compliant
pets. Mainland China is now classified under Group IIIA,
enabling more convenient cross-border pet relocation
between cities like Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing,
and Hong Kong

Hong Kong is recognized by China's General Administration of Customs (GACC) as a designated country/region alongside other rabies-controlled areas, enabling simplified pet export procedures with no mandatory quarantine for compliant pets entering all other Mainland China cities like Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, and Chengdu.Moving from Hong Kong to other China cities:
Start planning 1 month in advance to allow for
vaccinations, testing, and permit processing.
Single pet per person per trip; additional pets classify
as commercial imports requiring different procedures.
Quarantine classification depends on country of origin:
Designated rabies-free regions (e.g., Hong Kong,
Macau, Japan, Singapore, Australia) exempt from
quarantine.
Non-designated regions require a 30-day quarantine
at a GACC facility.
